Linda and Jennifer had a long soak in a hot tub and spa services while Michael and I played the golf course at Avila.
This is the 10th tee where we started our day.
We could hear seal lions in the background at tee time.
Fog still down on the hills. Michael and I were underdressed at the start of the round.
This is a diabolical point in the fairway of 10 where placement is everything.
A great blue heron who was not camera shy at all.

Shell Beach
Checking out prospective new homes!? No, not really. But this place has it's own putting green!
The coast line is so nice.
Michael and Jennifer walked Rudy down to the beach.
How locals read the newspaper on a rough day.
This is really a line for clam chowder. The line moves fast with the exception of some posing fool in the middle.
Went back on Pismo for a little wine and bird feeding. A kite sailor was having fun right in front of us.
Got some good air!

Solvang and a new campsite
On our way to Solvang we had to stop at an ostrich farm and feed that bad boy!
There are warning signs about the birds, the platform is raised about 2 feet and you can see the side rails. For $1.00 you get a pan of food on a dustpan. The handle is great because the birds are quite strong.
They look like snakes swarming the food.
Note the herd in the background.
They also have emus as well.
This ostrich was eyeballing Michael!
Jennifer posed on a sign board.
Downtown Solvang.
Waiting in line for an appetizer of abelskivers!
Mmmmm, yummy!
Chocolates handmade and very delicious.
Jennifer and Michael bought cherries and pineapple dipped in chocolate, awesome stuff.
Sightseeing Solvang style.
We bought some great olive oil and balsamic combinations. Found a bakery and very happy with the results.
Another good wine fine.
And we visited a distillery as well. They have only been in business one year. The vodka was very smooth, but the moonshine was well, harsh.
We moved to Pacific Dunes Ranch, still in Pismo. Still, nice a cool, but you have to hike the dunes to see the ocean. I made the hike and it was worth it.

Vacation with Michael and Jennifer starting in Pismo Beach
We arrived in Pismo and tried to stay at the local Elks but were told there was no room for us. We ended up staying at the state park across the street which was just fine. We drove onto the sand on the only beach in California that it is allowed in time for sunset.
Lots of traffic on the beach.
Stayed just above the water line.
There were lots of rigs on the beach, mostly trailers and fifth wheels.
But this is a 45 footer in the fine, fine sand.
Sunset at the Pismo pier. We had some great frozen yogurt!

Last Day in Oregon and heading home!
We woke up to an overcast day and only a 20% chance of rain. That rapidly inflated to 100% and we had to delay the start of our golf game until about 10:00 AM. Very nice course with lots of water and interesting elevation changes. I was able to clean out my golf bag of all the old balls I had accumulated over the years. Ok, I will fess up and say I lost a lot of balls. It is a nice course and Linda and I hope to return here next summer.
Yes, this is our car and it has rain on it! It is all hooked up and ready to tow. It goes where it is towed, so to speak.
I took this picture in Oregon and thought I could title it "how I spent my summer vacation". It was about 320 miles to where we spent the night in Corning CA.
We did stop in the Camping World in Redding. If you don't know, Camping World is like Toys R Us for campers. After doing all the damage we could we found our way to Rolling Hills RV. Ah, yes, there is a casino there as well. We did enjoy a nice fish dinner and maybe a little gambling.
Big truck stop. Truckers have a whole list of amenities available as well as parking for free.
Camping was only $28.00 a night and all are pull through sites. Pick the one you want and pull in. They do have a shuttle service so you don't have to walk all the way to and from the casino.
Way out in back there is actually a golf course. As far as I can tell it is probably one of the most unused courses in California. I did not see a soul on it.
Well, here we are shortly before departing for home in Modesto. We have lived in our little house for 100 days and enjoyed every one of them. Linda and I felt like we ran away from home and loved it! We were full time RV'ers for 3 months and really enjoyed the lifestyle. We are not ready to sell the house or anything, but we are anxiously anticipating hitting the road. Until our next blog, happy trails! There was some question about where Kacey G ended up. The last sighting was as he tried to stow away with Katie and George in the Bozeman Montana airport. Linda and I believe he found a hiding place in the motor home and hitched a ride back to Modesto. If this rogue gnome found a new home, we will sniff him out and deal with him accordingly. Keep you posted.
